I Gave My Husband's Family a Fortune Every Month Until They Demanded More. One Audit Shattered Their Greedy Scheme

The Family's Demanding Dinner

It was a Sunday evening, and rain fell over the Riverside neighborhood. Luna Reed had been cooking since morning to host Leo Reed's family. The dining room smelled of almond mole.

At the head of the table sat Henry, Leo's father, who had high - blood pressure. Ethan scrolled through his phone, dreaming of opening an electronics shop downtown.

Ethan's wife. Aria. Proudly showed off wine - colored nails. A designer handbag Luna had paid for three months ago. Leo never even looked up from his phone.

Luna was thirty - five and the financial director of a pharmaceutical company in Baltimore. She had a successful career, her own apartment, and an educated husband.

But for the past five years, she'd transferred ten thousand dollars every month to Leo's family. She also paid for Henry's medical, and other family expenses.

Olivia. Luna's mother - in - law. Calmly cut into a chicken leg at the dining table. Said. “Mara next month. You’ll deposit 15,000 dollars into our account. Luna. Don’t make that face.”

Olivia didn't ask; she announced it, as if Luna's bank account were an extension of her wallet. Luna was taken aback by the demand.

Luna said calmly, “Olivia, if there’s a genuine medical expense, we’ll review it. But I’m not increasing the monthly support.”

Olivia slowly set down her fork and repeated, “Support? Is that what you call fulfilling your responsibilities to your family?”

Ethan let out a dry laugh and said, “Come on, sis. Fifteen thousand dollars is nothing to you. One more spreadsheet, one less.”

Aria smiled with fake sweetness and added, “Besides, a family like ours can’t afford to look poor. I have a christening on Saturday.”

Luna looked at Leo, waiting for him to say something. He sighed with annoyance and said, “Don’t start. My mom’s only asking for what’s fair.”

That's when Luna understood this wasn't a discussion. It was a bill, and she knew she had to take a stand.

The Unseen Sacrifice

Luna Reed. 35. The financial director of a Baltimore pharmaceutical company. Had a seemingly successful life with a career. Apartment. And educated husband. Leo Reed.

For the past five years, Luna transferred $10,000 every month to Leo’s family. She also covered Henry’s medical bills, utility costs, and Ethan’s so - called emergencies.

One Sunday evening, as rain fell over Riverside, Luna cooked almond mole to host Leo’s family. At the dining table, Olivia calmly announced Luna would deposit $15,000 starting next month.

Olivia spoke as if Luna’s bank account was an extension of her own wallet. Not even bothering to ask.

Henry, with high blood pressure, sat at the head of the table. Ethan scrolled through his phone. Dreaming of an electronics shop. While Aria showed off nails. A handbag Luna bought.

Leo never looked up from his phone during this announcement, ignoring the situation.

Luna calmly replied that if there was a genuine medical expense. They could review it. But she wouldn’t increase the monthly support.

Olivia slowly put down her fork. Repeated the word “support,” saying it was Luna’s responsibility as Leo’s wife.

Ethan laughed dryly, saying $15,000 was nothing to Luna, just a matter of spreadsheets.

Aria smiled fakely, claiming she had a christening to attend and couldn’t look poor.

Luna looked at Leo, expecting him to say something. But he sighed and said his mom was asking for what was fair.

Luna then understood this wasn’t a discussion but a demand. She firmly stated she wanted transparency from then on.

Setting the Boundary

Luna Reed sat at the table, her heart heavy as Olivia made the demand. She had been cooking all day. Hoping for a pleasant family dinner. But this was turning into a nightmare.

“Olivia, if there’s a real need, we can discuss it,” Luna said, trying to stay calm. “But I won’t raise the monthly support without a proper reason.”

Olivia slowly put down her fork, her eyes fixed on Luna. “Support? You should see it as your duty to this family,” she retorted.

Ethan let out a short laugh. “Come on, Luna. Fifteen thousand is a drop in the bucket for you,” he said nonchalantly.

Aria smiled falsely. “We can’t afford to look bad. I have an event this weekend and need to dress appropriately,” she added.

Luna looked at Leo Reed, waiting for him to stand up for her. But he just sighed and said, “Mom’s asking for what’s reasonable.”

That’s when Luna knew she had to take a stand. She gently placed her fork on the table and took a deep breath.

“No. From now on, I need full transparency. Show me prescriptions if it’s for medicine. And be honest about what the money is for,” she declared.

Silence filled the room. Olivia’s face turned red with anger. “Look at the high - and - mighty executive,” she sneered.

Luna stood up, her voice firm. “I’m not just a source of money,” she said.

Leo pushed his chair back roughly. “Apologize to my mother,” he demanded.

Luna shook her head. “I won’t apologize for setting boundaries,” she replied.

With that, the first slap landed on her cheek. Luna was stunned, unable to believe Leo had hit her in front of everyone.

Family Backlash

Luna firmly stated her stance, demanding transparency. Leo, her husband, scoffed and said, “You're making a big deal out of nothing. Just do what Mom asks.”

Olivia, Luna's mother - in - law, slammed her hand on the table. “How dare you question us? You're part of this family, and you have to follow our rules.”

Ethan, the brother - in - law, joined in. “Yeah, Luna, stop being so stingy. Fifteen thousand is chump change for you.”

Aria, Ethan's wife, nodded in agreement. “You're supposed to support us so we can maintain our status in society. This is a family duty.”

Luna looked around at them all, disappointed. “I've supported you all for years. But now, I need to know where the money is going.”

Leo stood up, his face red with anger. “Apologize to my mom right now. You're embarrassing the family.”

Luna crossed her arms. “I won't apologize for standing up for myself. I'm not just a source of money.”

Olivia's eyes narrowed. “You're becoming ungrateful. After all we've done for you and Leo.”

Henry, the father - in - law, cleared his throat nervously. “Maybe we can talk this out calmly.”

But Leo was beyond reason. He stepped towards Luna and raised his hand. “You need to learn your place.”

The first slap landed on Luna's face with a sickening sound. She was stunned, her eyes wide in disbelief. “You hit me?”

Olivia smirked. “Good. Teach her a lesson. She can't keep defying us.”

Leo. Breathing heavily. Raised his hand again for a second strike. Sending Luna crashing to the floor as her world seemed to shatter around her.
